Description

Viavi, headquartered in Santa Rosa, California (north of San Francisco), consists of several divisions that operate in a wide variety of industries. Alfred Kochen has been responsible for “Optical Security & Performance” for over ten years. Here, effect pigments are designed and manufactured primarily for the automotive sector, but also for paints, coatings, printing inks, plastics, paper and textiles. The pigments can be divided into two product series. On the one hand, there is the ChromaFlair series, which is characterized by an impressive color flop, and on the other hand, there is the SpectraFlair series, which creates a colorful rainbow effect. The ChromaFlair series is available for use in both solventborne and waterborne systems, while the SpectraFlair series is designed exclusively for use in solventborne systems. The pigments are produced by depositing ultra-thin layered structures similar to those found in nature, such as soap bubbles, butterfly wings or shells. Precise control of the thickness of the multiple layers in the flake structure of the pigment produces a wide variety of colors. To maintain a tight color tolerance, the film thickness must be precisely controlled to within a few atoms. Feel free to contact us – we will be happy to provide you with further information on Viavi and its effect pigments if required.
